FAQs
How do I choose a photographer?
Firstly, take a look at the photographers portfolio and see if you connect with their style. Something will resonate with you and you need to trust your instincts.
What location would you recommend and how far will you travel?
Mrs Smart is based in Bayside but will travel all around Melbourne, the Peninsula and the coast for your dream photo location.
Choosing the right location can make all the difference in your photos. You're welcome to select a place that is fitting for your shoot, or if you’re unsure, she can recommend (or source) locations that offer beautiful natural light and the perfect backdrop.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If the weather isn't cooperating, your session will be rescheduled to the next suitable date. As a natural light photographer, we want to ensure the lighting and conditions are just right for beautiful images. Having said that, clouds are good for photography so overcast days are loved. Mrs Smart will always stay in touch in the lead-up to your session and make the call together based on the forecast.
Will all the photos be edited?
All the final, selected images you receive will be carefully edited in her signature… slightly perfectionistic style :) in order to deliver a curated collection of the best moments from your session. Unedited or raw files are not included, as part of the creative process is in the final polish of each image.
How long does it take to receive our photos?
Selecting the best images and editing them ready for delivery usually takes around 2 weeks.
What should I wear to a photo shoot?
Wear something you feel confident and comfortable in. Choose outfits with interesting textures like denim, linen, or layers, and opt for solid, block colours where possible as they photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on you. Avoid clothing with large logos or distracting patterns!
For families or groups, aim to coordinate without matching. Select a cohesive colour palette so everyone looks visually connected, but let each person’s individual style show through. Feel free to bring a second outfit to ensure you’re prepared for any location or lighting changes.
For businesses, consider the look and feel that you are wanting to achieve whether it be fun, professional or classy and let your team know ahead of time so they can prepare.
Are there hidden surprises in your price packages?
No. And there’s no hard sell. The package is all inclusive covering the shoot on location, all post production and high resolution images.
What time of day is best for a shoot?
As a natural light photographer, Mrs Smart would prefer to schedule your session around sunrise or sunset, commonly known as the ‘golden hour’. This time of day provides soft, warm, and flattering light which adds a beautiful glow to your images. It’s the ideal lighting for creating timeless, natural-looking photographs with depth and warmth.
